Truck accidents: Chain reaction crash closes interstate for hours

by | Apr 26, 2018 | Truck Accidents

Many victims of accidents are unaware of the impact injuries can have on their lives. Because of the larger size of the vehicle, truck accidents can particularly result in lasting physical and financial complications for victims. Unfortunately, several Pennsylvania commuters were part of a chain-reaction collision following the crash of a large dump truck.

The dump truck was traveling down the interstate early in the morning when it crashed and spilled its contents. It is unknown why the driver of the truck veered off and struck the median, which resulted in the crash, but its contents created a black cloud of dust, impairing the site of drivers behind it. After striking a median, the truck flipped on its side, crashed through a guardrail and came to a stop on an embankment. Sadly, the dump truck driver suffered serious injuries and died.

Two other crashes involving four vehicles occurred because of the black could of dust. Three others were injured and transported for medical treatment. Their conditions are unknown at this time. The cleanup and initial accident resulted in all lanes of the interstate closing for 12 hours.

Truck accidents such as this one are complicated to process. Victims who suffer injuries and property damage as a result of a similar crash may not understand how or where to begin finding assistance to process the aftermath. Experienced Pennsylvania attorneys can review the evidence of accident cases and advise the best approach to assist a victim to seek financial compensation for medical expenses and property damage. Some victims may be advised to file against their own insurance, and others may be advised to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the owners of truck companies.
