There are now new licensing requirements for commercial truck drivers in Pennsylvania. The Federal Government overhauled the regulations for commercial truck drivers and is now requiring applicants to pass more extensive road tests and provide better proof of identity and residency.
The extensive road tests that applicants must take now includes a two hour test rather than one. There is also a more extensive vehicle visual inspection requiring the drivers to identify 128 parts of the vehicle and know how to make sure it is safe.
Another additional requirement is proof of residency and identity. Apparently the Office Of Homeland Security is concerned about the possibility of terrorists using trucks for attacks.
Although the State of Pennsylvania has closed twelve of its forty commercial license road test sites, in Centre County the people wanting a CDL can still report to the Pleasant Gap test site.
