Recently, a bizarre sequence of events occurred in a Pennsylvania bar. The events led to the eventual arrest of a 53-year-old man and formal charges against him, including assault charges. He likely has a criminal defense lawyer to assist him, following his arrest and arraignment.
Authorities were called after a fight between the arrested man and the staff broke out in the bar. It is unknown what events proceeded the argument, but the fight apparently became physical. Prior to police arrival, a witness claims that the man repeatedly kicked one of the bar staff in the head. By the time authorities arrived, an off-duty police officer was on the scene attempting to stop the fight.
In an attempt to assess the situation, police questioned the man regarding the fight but claim that they were not able to understand his account of the events. Since he continued to be unruly, police proceeded to arrest the man and informed him of his pending arrest. He allegedly resisted arrest but complied when threatened by a taser. After he was handcuffed, the man allegedly claimed to suffer from medical issues and was allowed to rest on the sidewalk until emergency medical technicians could evaluate him. Reportedly, he also resisted medical evaluation, treatment and transportation to a medical facility.
After the man was discharged from medical care, he was taken into custody. He was recently formally charged for assault, resisting arrest and other charges. At his arraignment, his bail was set at $20,000. Experienced criminal defense attorneys in Pennsylvania can evaluate the collected evidence and work with a client to determine the best legal approach.
