Many towns in Pennsylvania have their own laws regarding firearms.
A new Pennsylvania law makes it possible for gun owners to challenge local laws enacted by towns, townships, boroughs and cities. The possession of firearms is covered by a state statute. Currently, three cities, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Lancaster have sought to overturn the new law and suit is pending in the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court.
Any local municipality that wants to hold on to its own special gun laws should be expected to be challenged by not only the gun owner but the NRA.
In Centre County, College, Ferguson, Halfmoon and Patton Township have local ordinances regarding guns. The township officials are reviewing their ordinances. Harris Township has no language regarding firearms.
