Speeding Tickets
If you’ve gotten a speeding ticket not only are you subject to a fine, court costs and points on your driver’s license, you may also have an increase in your auto insurance rates.
As an example in Pennsylvania if you get a speeding ticket for going 31 miles per hour over the posted speed limit, something easy to do with today’s cars and trucks, you will receive five points on your license. You will also be required to attend a PennDOT hearing.
The hearing examiner may recommend that you attend a driver improvement school, undergo an examination to keep your driver’s license or have your license suspended for a period not exceeding 15 days. Failure to attend the hearing or complete the requirements will result in a further suspension of 60 days.
Former Police Officer And Prosecutor On Your Side
As a former police officer and prosecutor, I am a lawyer who knows that there are ways to soften the blow of a speeding ticket or other serious traffic offense. It may be possible to lower the points, reduce the fine and possibly avoid attendance at driver’s training school.
Other Motor Vehicle Violations
In addition to speeding offenses, there are numerous other motor vehicle violations that may result in a suspension. Those violations include but are not limited to: failing to stop for a school bus, careless driving, drunk driving, driving without lights to avoid identification and fleeing or attempting to elude police officers.
