The early morning hours find most Pennsylvania residents at home asleep in their beds. Some, however, may delay going home following an evening out on the town. Following a few drinks, people may become louder and more boisterous. Recently, one man was arrested and another one wanted on assault charges following an alleged altercation in Lancaster County.
The Columbia Borough Police Department reported that several people had gathered at an intersection around 3 a.m. Apparently, the group had gotten a bit too loud. A 62-year-old man approached the group and asked them to lower their volume. According to reports, some men in the group attacked the man, then ran away.
Two of the men supposedly came back to search for a cell phone and were confronted by the victim’s wife. The man was transported to a hospital with facial fractures, an injured spleen and other less serious injuries. He was treated there and is now recovering at his home.
A videotape of the incident was reportedly given to police officers. A 22-year-old man was charged with aggravated assault, driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license. Another suspect, a 21-year-old man, is being sought by Columbia police for aggravated assault. He is also apparently wanted for parole violation by the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole.
The charge of assault in the state of Pennsylvania is a serious offense. Someone may have to spend a significant time in jail, if convicted.
